July 24, 2025 | Beginning the week of July 28, 2025, crews will apply roadway and crosswalk striping to both Bunker Hill Rd. and Taylorcrest Rd. Flaggers will be present to direct vehicles through the area safely; however, drivers should expect temporary delays as striping is completed. No long-term lane closures are anticipated. 

Drivers are urged to continue exercising caution in construction zones as crews will remain on-site to complete punch list items (i.e., manhole leveling, site cleanup operations, etc.).

July 17, 2025 | The City’s contractor, Hayden Pavement, has substantially completed road improvements on Bunker Hill Rd. and Taylorcrest Rd.

Bunker Hill Rd. Reconstruction – Beginning the week of July 21, 2025, crews will apply roadway striping to Bunker Hill Rd. between Memorial and Taylorcrest. Flaggers will be present to direct vehicles through the area safely; however, drivers should expect temporary delays as striping is completed. No long-term lane closures are anticipated. 

Taylorcrest Rd. Improvement – The mill and overlay work on Taylorcrest Rd. is substantially complete, with both lanes now open to traffic. Drivers are urged to continue exercising caution in the area as crews will remain on-site to complete punch list items (i.e., manhole leveling, site cleanup operations, etc.). Road and crosswalk striping work will be scheduled within the next 3-4 weeks.

July 10, 2025 | Beginning the week of July 14, 2025, the City’s contractor, Hayden Pavement, will start the asphalt overlay of Taylorcrest Rd. between Strey Ln. and Blalock Rd. Asphalt paving work will take place in the following phases:

Phase 2A – Eastbound Lane Closure

• Traffic will be restricted to one-way westbound travel only as work on the eastbound lane is completed first. 

Phase 2B – Westbound Lane Closure 

• Traffic will then be restricted to one-way eastbound travel only as work on the westbound lane is completed. 

Flaggers will be present during the day, however drivers should expect traffic delays. Drivers are urged to plan their route accordingly and follow recommended detour signage during construction. All lanes will be open to traffic during the nighttime hours.

July 2, 2025 | The reconstruction of Bunker Hill Rd. is substantially complete. Effective the evening of Thursday, July 3, 2025, both lanes of Bunker Hill Rd. will be open to traffic. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in the area as crews will remain in the area to complete punch list items (i.e., manhole leveling, site cleanup operations, etc.). Please note that the road must cure for a minimum of 14 days prior to completing final striping. Temporary marking will be in place in the interim. 

Beginning Monday, July 7, 2025, the City’s contractor, Hayden Pavement, will begin the mill and overlay of Taylorcrest Rd. Road milling work will take place in the following phases:

Phase 1A – Strey Ln. to Bunker Hill Rd.

• Traffic will be restricted to one-way westbound travel only as work on the eastbound lane is completed first.
• Traffic will then be restricted to one-way eastbound travel only as work on the westbound lane is completed.

Phase 1B – Bunker Hill Rd. to Blalock Rd.

• Traffic will be restricted to one-way westbound travel only as work on the eastbound lane is completed first.
• Traffic will then be restricted to one-way eastbound travel only as work on the westbound lane is completed.

May 30, 2025 | Construction continues on the northbound lane of Bunker Hill Rd. Traffic is restricted to one-way southbound travel only between Memorial and Taylorcrest as work on the northbound lane is completed. Drivers are urged to plan their route accordingly and follow recommended detour signage during construction.

Attempting to travel northbound in the southbound lane at any time is strictly prohibited. MVPD will continue traffic enforcement efforts to ensure the safety of all motorists and construction crews.

Please note that the current asphalt surface on the southbound lane is not the finished product. An additional layer of black base asphalt will be added, followed by the final surface layer to complete the roadway.

April 16, 2025 | The City hosted two (2) Town Hall Meetings to discuss upcoming road improvements on Bunker Hill Rd. and Taylorcrest Rd. At the meetings, City staff, the project engineer, and the contractor shared details about the construction process, project timeline, and proposed traffic control plans.

Beginning the week of April 21, the City’s contractor, Hayden Pavement, will begin mobilizing on Bunker Hill Rd. installing traffic control devices ahead of construction work.  Construction will begin on the southbound lane the week of April 28.  Travel will be restricted to northbound travel only between Memorial and Taylorcrest while the southbound lane work is completed. Drivers are urged to plan their route accordingly and follow recommended detour signage during construction. Construction on Taylorcrest Rd. is tentatively scheduled to start in June after the school year.

March 28, 2025 | The City will host two (2) town hall meetings to discuss upcoming road improvements on Bunker Hill Rd. and Taylorcrest Rd. Residents will learn about the construction process, project timeline, and proposed traffic control plans. This meeting is also an opportunity for residents and the general public to ask questions directly to City staff, the project engineer, and the contractor about this work.
